The Homecrete Difference
Buying a new home is a major decision, both financial as well as emotional. Home buyers want a beautiful, comfortable home in a desirable neighborhood and they want the peace of mind that comes with knowing they received the best value for their money.
Buyers today have more choices than ever when shopping for a new home. At Homecrete, our goal is to take the home buying process to the next level by offering more than our competition… more standard amenities, more safety, more energy-efficiency and ultimately more value.
From the moment you walk into one of our model homes you will feel the difference. Homecrete Homes are solid, quiet and comfortable. Noise from the outside world is virtually eliminated. Our satisfied home owners tell us there's nothing quite like it.
The secret lies in the solid poured concrete walls that make our homes not only quiet but resistant to hurricanes and earthquakes and more energy-efficient than our competitors that build with concrete block or wood frame construction.
So please take a few moments to learn more about how your Homecrete Home is built and see for yourself what sets us apart from the competition.
Homecrete Homes Save Energy!
Homecrete Homes has partnered with Greenblock Worldwide Corporation, the leading Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) company in the nation. ICF's are high-R value polystyrene foam "Lego" blocks that are stacked, aligned, braced and filled with concrete and steel reinforcing bar creating a strong, energy-efficient and sustainable structure. The foam insulation, coupled with the solid thermal mass of the concrete and lack of air infiltration through the walls, greatly reduces the amount of energy required to heat and cool the home. Documented tests have shown that the combination of these factors can reduce energy costs by up to 75%, a significant number in light of today's spiraling energy costs.
HomeCrete Homes Are Quiet!
Studies have shown that concrete homes are quiet. ICF homeowners almost always comment on how unbelievably quiet their new house is. Outdoor noises such as aircraft, traffic, lawnmowers and leaf blowers are muffled or eliminated altogether. In sound transmission tests, ICF walls allowed less than one-third as much sound to pass through, as compared to wood-framed walls or concrete block with fiberglass insulation. Homecrete Homes are the quietest homes you can buy!
Homecrete Homes are Safe and Strong
Built according to good practices, ICF homes are among the safest and most durable types of structures during a hurricane, tornado or earthquake. Homes built with reinforced concrete walls have a record of surviving these events intact, structurally sound and largely unblemished.
A Homecrete Home will maintain it's structural integrity, decade after decade !
Homecrete Homes are Fire Resisting!
Of all construction materials, concrete is one of the most resistant to heat and fire. That fire resistance gives houses built with (ICFs) certain safety advantages. Experience shows that concrete structures are more likely to remain standing through fire than are structures of other materials. Unlike wood, concrete does not burn. This has been confirmed in fire-wall tests. In these tests ICF walls were subjected to continuous gas flames and temperatures of up to 2000°F for as long as 4 hours. None of the ICF walls ever failed structurally. All of the ICFs tested were of the "flat" or "uninterrupted grid" type, similar to Greenblock ICF's, having no significant breaks in the concrete layer. In contrast, wood frame walls typically collapse in an hour or less.
